Well, the saga continues.
Since LFS w/ 2.4.16 seemed to have problems compiling X, thought I'd see
how 2.4.17 fared. Here, glibc-2.2.4 won't compile. Complains about
incosistencies in the operand in the spinlock definition in spin.h.
If it's not one thing it's another.
