Just to put things in their proper perspective:
Today the Wall Street Journal reports that MS has 36 Billion dollars in cash.
They expect a free cash flow of about ? 1 billion dollars per month or so
and are expected to have 46 billion (I may be off by a few billion here)in
cash assets by the end of this year.
The article says that they can stamp out a cd for about two cents and then
sell it for hundreds.
As part of their punishment, which I believe was accepted by our
government, MS is offering to give one billion dollars in free software
to our nation's poor schools. Of course, that software will cost MS a
tiny fraction of one billion dollars and will be a great way to get
their foot, arm, leg and everything else (modesty keeps me from being
more graphic) into the education market in this country.
While there may be some debate in the USA over whether or not we Anglos need
to learn Spanish, there can be little doubt that computer people need to be
able to converse in MS. Today, although I don't really use windows, I spent
two hours reformatting a word document for our lab. It was a complicated test
request form badly done by a secretary. (BTW, it came out nice. I do like
Word for making tables.)
Since the last big virus attack here, there has been not a single suggestion
that we might switch to non MS software.
Por favor, Jose, donde esta la reset button?
Joel
