I have updtated to version 2.2.2 kde on my RH 7.1 system recently. I had to
use the RH 7.2 binaries, as there are none available for RH 7.1 on kde.org -
but that's another story, and if someone is really interested in the way I
did it I might write it down.
My problem with the konqueror file manager started after I had installed the
qt-2.3.2 rpms (without any install problem). I tested whether my "old" kde
2.1.1 still worked with the "new" qt libraries - it generally did, but now
konqueror seemed to stall for 5-6 seconds before any directory opened, and it
did so with any subdirectory, which is rather annoying and makes you
appreciate command line again ...
This behaviour continued even after I had finally installed kde 2.2.2, so
that might not be a genuine kde problem. And there seems to be voodoo about
it: sometimes konqueror misbehaves and sometimes it doesn't, but I haven't
found any pattern in it (is Bertha, my dog inside or outside my room? is the
sun shining or not? ...)
Any idea would be appreciated
