I have other issues with google mail, in that it's not suitable for
anything I consider private. You still have to keep your own backups if
you want to keep your data. Then there's the question of how far you can
trust large American corporates (not).

Don't forget the cloud basics, as worn on a T-shirt by Peter Gutmann

I didn't have any access problems to speak of, but then I live in a
Western suburb. I'm not sure that there were significant problems in
other suburbs where you couldn't grab some stuff and move. The CBD is a
different matter, thanks to authorities I consider that to be a dead
space for anything where access is important, and I wouldn't e.g. hire
any law firm that keeps documents inside the CBD. Call it business
reality, I don't care. I would probably extend that to the CBD of any
other city. Stupid places for reliability.
