You are looking for mythtv :) I assume you are looking at Freeview DVB-T, not satellite. If so then IMHO the best digital tuner on the market is the HD Homerun http://nicegear.co.nz/dvb-cards/silicondust-hdhomerun/ . It is a network device that any computer on your lan can use, but in the mythtv context it will only be accessed by your recording machine.
Hi - thanks for the replies. I had had a look at the nice gear site - but not at this particular gizmo. It looks like just the ticket - although I was looking forward to fiddling with dip switches and jumpers - I miss that stuff. This looks too easy. And if I can't open it, do I really own it?
