You are wrong here.The new design (gspca) is split with two branchs one for
v4l1 the other one for v4l2.

My name is Michel and spca5xx/gspca are not mine, IMHO there are more than 100
contributors:)

gpsca is set for a generic core "driver" that mean all webcam hardware able to
stream video over usb bus(228 today) . The v4l2 drivers you set in the kernel
are hardware specific, that mean one core driver per webcam hardware. I am
not sure it is the same project, but why not a discuss about the goal of a
collaboration :)
