It works fine in webcam mode only. There're two USB modes for the
camera. I repeated all tests below in both modes. Look here for a
v4l-info output of DV mode:

Is this a show stopper, even if the camera is working fully? Do you
think it may be possible to recode the format on the fly?

BTW: It seems audio is working with skype. So at least the audio support
on the camera works in webcam mode.
