Hi,
it seems that issues with that webcam are widespread but still I lost
overview completely by searching for solutions so I'm having to ask here.
I'm using openSUSE 10.3 x86_64 with kernel 2.6.22.18 and latest uvcvideo
module r238 (tried older ones before but still the same issue).
I get the following when connecting the device:
usb 4-2.1.4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 13
usb 4-2.1.4: new device found, idVendor=046d, idProduct=0990
usb 4-2.1.4: new device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=2
usb 4-2.1.4: SerialNumber: 5F8F2EE5
usb 4-2.1.4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
Linux video capture interface: v2.00
uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device <unnamed> (046d:0990)
input: UVC Camera (046d:0990) as /class/input/input8
usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo
USB Video Class driver (SVN r238)
Looks good IMHO, but then my problems start:
Using Ekiga sometimes works and sometimes not but even when it seems to
work I get the following messages:
uvcvideo: Failed to query (135) UVC control 2 (unit 2) : -110 (exp. 2).
uvcvideo: Failed to query (135) UVC control 7 (unit 2) : -110 (exp. 2).
uvcvideo: Failed to query (135) UVC control 3 (unit 2) : -110 (exp. 2).
But even worse is Skype's behaviour (2.0.0.72):
configuring the device and clicking "Test" crashes Skype immediately and
I get the following:
dmesg:
compat_ioctl32: v4l2 ioctl VIDIOC_S_PARM, dir=rw (0xc0cc5616)
ioctl32(skype:2236): Unknown cmd fd(18) cmd(c0cc5616){t:'V';sz:204}
arg(f6145e30) on /dev/video0
Skype:
Skype V4L2: Failed to change capture framerate (15)
Skype V4L2: Failed to mmap camera buffers
Abgebrochen
Trying Ekiga afterwards freezes Ekiga completely but no kernel messages
and the cam indicates that it is recording but ekiga is just hanging
with no picture.
Any hints on my issues?
Thanks,
Wolfgang
