The two drivers just support different class of webcams. When you buy an 
AMD/ATI graphic card you need the ATI graphic driver. When you buy an NVidia 
graphic card you need the NVidia graphic driver. The same holds for webcams, 
you need a driver that supports your device.

The gspca driver is newer, so it might be less tested than the UVC driver. I 
would of course advice getting a UVC webcam as I'm the UVC driver author :-)
