It sounds like the uvcvideo driver doesn't get enough data from the webcam. 
Could you set the trace parameter to 255, start luvcview and send me the 
content of the kernel log ? The driver will get pretty verbose, so you should 
kill luvcview within a few seconds otherwise the kernel log will likely 
overflow (please paste the content of the log to pastebin.com, it would be a 
bit too big for the list). If the log overflows, get it from /var/log/whatever 
instead of dmesg.
