Hi Alex,

I will try the patch as soon as I can, hopefully late afternoon. It's a 
homogeneous network of only 2 devices both booting linux from the same 
TFTP server.  The devices are our own custom boards with a Xilinx FPGA 
running a PLC modem so the device driver is one I have written so there 
may be problems there too.
