(aside: thanks for all the feedback about SSH yesterday, got some interesting ideas but, for the most part, confirmed that what i'm trying to do is not feasible with a R/O filesystem on the target.)
i'm looking for pointers/advice on configuring/running PPP in a really robust manner. i have it set up now, that part's not hard -- using minicom and a minicom runscript to configure the 3G modem, then firing up pppd. none of that is rocket surgery. but it's been a long time since i've messed with PPP so i'm interested in whether anyone here is using it on a regular basis in a context where it has to run reliably, automatically reconnect, and so on. is anyone out there currently depending on PPP running solidly (24/7?) and willing to share advice? thanks. rday -- ======================================================================== Robert P.
