My thanks to all who gave advice. It was nice to see you all have your
favorite bistro's. I had a look at them all, and then downloaded the single
disk options of Freespire and Debian to make a start.
 
That is when a lazy old XP user had to get into the mire.
 
Although I have Nero 8, it did not like ISO's much so I followed the web
advice and got CDBurnerXP. That worked OK. but of course told me that my
700mg CD's were too small. Those single disk versions are 712mg up it seems.
 
OK so I downloaded the first of Fedora 5 disks. 671.28kb.
 
It failed to burn as well.
 
 
I gave up for now.
