best bet is your sata controller is not supported or not included yet
in the redhat / fedora core version that you are trying to install.
(the kernel version in the installation cd doesnt have the right
module for your sata controller).
test by downloading the latest FC / knoppix and see if its working.
but to determine better answer / solutions, you need to post the exact
error, like what happens during the installation.
