I am not a Redhat user. I have used Fedora. Fedora is geared towards desktop users. Redhat is geared towards servers. A graphical user interface is not essential in Redhat. I wonder whether you even have one installed. The prompt that you see is likely a BASH prompt. Startx will have no effect if you have no x window manager installed. I am certainly no expert when it comes to command line stuff.
You can do a search for commands. Here is one such site: http://www.computerhope.com/unix/ubash.htm Does yum work? If so then you can probably download the proper x window system. Something like: yum -y install X11-XserverSince you have internet (probably on another computer), I would check with Redhat to see what support they have. You may have to modify your sources.lst to include different repositories and find out precisely what you need.
