What do you mean? 95% of all malware comes from web sites or groups that say
free movies downloads , free songs downloads , free porn , free software and
programs.
Limewire ,napster and Kassel was full of malware .
But now there is a growing move of malware coming through ads and pop up ads
and in other web sites .And this is big problem now.
You got to understand that windows NT /windows 2000/ windows XP make use of a
account user of levels of permission for user by the admid
That does nothing to stop malware you the admid can set up a limited account
permission for me and I can still download malware and run it and the malware
will leave the account profile and infect the system files.
The whole concept of user ,limited user permission ,root user does nothing to
stop malware do to the way the windows OS works.Windows was for businesses not
web surfing , most network administrators monitor what you do on the internet
and tightly control what web sites you go to this why businesses are not
drowning with malware like home users are.
The macs where for home use but windows monopolised it and none of the earlier
windows or macs had any security at all do to they ran has root user. The late
90's with internet surfing send shock waves for windows and Macs to implement
security. So any mac before OS X had no security at all.
And from what people tell me on other message boards and chat rooms is the only
secure OS was unix and that is only because that is what the military and
defence use for their networks.Windows cannot start to use a unix way of doing
things has that will effect capability issues of software programs for
businesses use .Do to Macs are only 10% of the market mostly for home use they
could switch to unix way of doing things and the same with Linux.
Has windows cannot and would have a very hard time do to capability issues of
software programs for businesses .
Now to summarize posts here ..
Well it not security of the OS it is network administrators use of packet
sniffing , web sites allowed and blocked web sites for the employees that
tightly control what web sites employees go to and do on the internet thus not
a malware problem like home PC's.The problem is people in home that use their
computer for internet surfing is when malware becomes a really big problem.
The concept of "root" "admin" and "users" with different levels of system
access does nothing on windows Machine. The problem is the way the windows OS
was built on and works.
