Wine is a compatibility later and is not the same as Windows, so as hard as
you try you won't get everything to work. You can improve your chances
though.
Playonlinux is in the repositories and it gives you more APIs and dlls to
work with. You can also check the Codeweavers site to check what programs
they expect to work. They have a paid version of Wine that gives you even
more.
Finally you can try two other options: dual booting and running a full
version of Windows in virtual machine using Virtualbox or VMware. Both are
popular and more successful than Wine.
