They were right back then, and today there are a lot of people working on making life with arch easier, like bazaar, archzoom/viewarch, or archway. Personally I was never really concerned about the restrictive license, but all the wasteful "politics" of Larry McVoy on LKML and elsewhere seem to help no one, really.
