yeah, that's the reason. I'm still worried about the P4 cache, since I'm
told the I-cache caches something other than raw x86 instructions, and I'm
having trouble figuring out if this will hurt us (but it shouldn't).

I don't think you can argue that it's necessarily good or bad. You do what
you have to do, with no memory to help you. So if you really need that
compact x86, you just do it.
