1. The first laptop we had work exactly until we had a basic linux
up and running. A day later the harddisk failed.

Solution: warranty

2. A basic Debian 2.2r2 would not install with pcmcia support (kernel
2.2.18pre(something), or it would and crash the system at every boot.

Solution: upgrade to kernel 2.4.5

3. X makes problems running since the sis driver does not work.

Solution: use a framebuffer driver for X (slow), use a hacked sis driver
which relies on kernel vesafb for modeswitching (better)

4. SiS kernel framebuffer does not work... hmppf.

Solution: none for now.

5. Sound fails after suspend.

Solution: remove sounddriver before suspend and insert again after
(thanks to ESD this works)

6. There are some other issues about this laptop:
Uses a desktop CPU. Is quite loud. SiS630 is reputed to be a rather
slow chipset. Only one PCMCIA slot for type 2 (not 3). No serial port.
Suspend mode draws nearly as much power as leaving the system running.

But on the positive side we have: 2x USB, 1x Firewire

OK... it was rather cheap, but next time I just pay more to get
a real working laptop and not a cheap desktop stuffed in a small case.
