As an embedded guy, I rely heavily on the serial port for debugging, and there's no way I'll go to USB for that kind of work. I seriously doubt that we'll see the embedded world abandon the good old serial port anytime soon. PC chipsets normally make crappy embedded chipsets, and embedded design concerns don't seem to be considered in PC chipset design, so I doubt that erasing the serial port is done for or with the approval of embedded developers. Not that USB is bad; it's just way to complex for low-level debugging. They can have my serial port when they pry it from my cold, dead fingers. :) Eric
