Hi Ron, I just got from a friend of mine a motherboard as follow: Dual Intel Pentium III (only one installed) 256KB L2 Cache ServerWorks chip-set Two/Four 168-pin single/double sided, SDRAM Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) sockets providing upto 2GB MB system memory 2 PCI-64 Busses and one PCI-32 Bus 8-bit XBus NationalSemiconductors PC87417 SuperIO SM Bus Custom Phoenix BIOS IDE Interface - 1 FDD and 2 IDE Standard I/O ports: 2 Serial and 1 Parallel port Keyboard and Mouse
First thing I've done install RedHat 7.1 It seems to be working OK. Then, I looked into LinuxBIOS CVS database and the closest mainboard I found was l440gx, made a ROM, and installed on my new motherboard. Surprisingly(HAPPY) I see something coming out from COM1: Ram1 Ram2 >>>>>Hangs. Looking at the code seems BIOS is trying to initialize the memory subsystem and hangs. Here are my questions: 1- What are the files I have to change in order to add support for this mainboard and ServerWorks chip-set in LinuxBIOS database? 2- Is there anybody out there have already done some work on this ServerWorks chip-set? 3- In general, how long does it take to add a brand new motherboard+chip-set to LinuxBIOS? (I'm doing this as hobby...if it takes to long (more then 24hours) I rather go fishing) Thanks, jsu _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
