On the other hand ... there must be a lot of fluff in the 2.4 kernel .. even
in my cut-down kernels (embeded stuff) I thought the size was a bit Xy ..

Hmm ... ok hit me with this then ... help me set-out a definitive list of
kernel options that we need for a "bios kernel" .. and I'll see what I can't
make up;

Need
  - Module Support?
  - APM?
  - MTD
  - PNP
  - IDE
  - RAM(Block Device) ?
  - INITRD
  - Networking?
  - Ethernet Drivers?
  - ISO (CDROM)
  - Serial
  - FileSystems (which ones? EXT2 FAT ISO9660)

Want
  - SMP?
  - Partitions?
  - FileSystems (JFFS? NTFS?)

Remove
  - ISDN
  - PPP
  - WAN
  - Sound
  - VGA ?
