The main tool Linux offers is ipfwadm.  Its syntax is
complicated... you may want to check out isinglass, a package intended
for machines with intermittent dialout connectivity to an ISP that has
a useful set of default rules, and is easy to set up.

I'd love to see some sort of similar approach to a basic firewall
setup for dialup PPP users be right there in Linuxconf one day... but
it is not there yet.

I'll let those who do this for real give you definitive
answers... I've only played with virtual domains briefly.
