I know this isn't exactly a linuxconf question but I was hoping someone would be able to help.. I saw a while back people were trying out shadow support under linuxconf and so I thought why not.. Well it works fine on my main server which is also my NIS server. Its running glibc (redhat 5.1) so I am using ypserv and ypbind. Only problem is that on my clients which are also running glibc, can't authenticate any users from nis... I checked the following.. on a client.. ypcat shadow says map does not exist.. ypcat shadow.byname this does work.. done as root it shows the encoded passwords and any other user they are "mangled" or missing... my nsswitch.conf is setup with shadow: nis files I also ran pwconv on the client in an effort to get this to work... Is they main problem here that shadow doesn't work and that I have to specify shadow.byname?? I don't see anywhere to change that.. --- You are currently subscribed to linuxconf as: [[email protected]] To unsubscribe, forward this message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
