Edit the file /usr/lib/diald/standard-filter. Locate the lines

accept tcp 120 tcp.dest=tcp.www
accept tcp 120 tcp.source=tcp.www

Change the 120 for whatever seconds you want. This will change the timeout
after you download a web page. You can fiddle this protocol by protocol.
There is a lot of comments in that file.

Save the file and kill diald

        killall diald

and let linuxconf restart it (enter and leave linuxconf).
