Well check out in the kernel config if the modules for parport are enabled
or not ..
make menuconfig ..
Check if all the parport drivers have been enabled as modules or inbuilt
into the kernel .. if not enable here..
then make a backup of /lib/modules/preferred .. and then make modules ..
make modules-install
the modules if selected in the config should now appear here ..
then try using printtool to configure ..
