Here my Rs. 0.02.

I saw a cable modem howto somewhere, dont remember. Just hunt using google.

Afaik, setting up cable modem is as easy as configuring a nic (check the
compatibility) and settin up dns/dhcp etc etc using netcfg.

But why would you or anyone want to go for a cable modem, when ADSL is
available (www.dishnetdsl.com). Hope you know that cable pipe starts getting
choked as more people get on to  it. ADSL is dedicated pipe. Moreover,
you'll start getting speeds in cable modem only after a week or two due to
some caching funda (i read this somewhere).

BTW, which area are you in ?? Who's your cable guy (IN, Siti etc) ?? My
cablewala dosent know a jack of when internet service is gonna start here
!!!
