The apache distrib that is packed along with RHL6.1 has a broken APXS
script. I faced the same problem , and asked the php3 list. And Rasmus
himself told me the above, so it must be true. He suggested that you
download and compile BOTH the apache and php tarballs. I did and it
worked!! (remember to enable the mod_so support for the php module to
work. It is easier to use php as a SO instead of statically linking it.
That way you could recompile php whenever you want a new feature instead
of recompiling apache)
