How about SOCK? In the ntp context, we already have SHM and PPS. Both show up in the refid slot in packets. Just to make sure we are on the same wavelength... I'm looking for a term that can be used as a handle when the context is well known for things like "Try SOCK, it worked for me." -- These are my opinions.
