Has any one opened their zv6000/r4000 to the point of seeing the
actual cpu socket.
I got really jipped when i got the replacement machine fro my r3000
(slower bus 400 vs 333 less cache 1mb/512k).
I am seeing on line people saying that this box uses the 939 socket vs
r3000 754 pin.
any body have a clue.
I don't have a repair manual for the zv6000's, but I can get you the
r3000 version if it helps. As far as getting to the cpu, on the r3000s
you simply pop about 8 screws that holds down a plate that houses the
two fans, and heatsink. Once the plate is off, you remove the heatsink,
and pop out the cpu. Also the 939 socket is newer, and will support
higher speeds than the 754 socket - so that's an advantage.
