This page has a link to a page with a list of manufacturers who use the Broadcom chipset which, in turn, has a link to another page for additional details. The additional details link is broken. Just wondering if it would work with the built-in wifi in my R3240, which uses bcmwl564.sys and netbc564.inf. I had this chip working (after a great deal of help from someone here) on my Ubuntu-64 Hoary (5.04) installation using ndiswrapper. But I recently upgraded to 5.10 Breezy, also 64-bit, and it broke the ndiswrapper. I'm pretty sure the problem is that I now have a different kernel. I remember the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HowtoUseNdiswrapperOnAmd64Ubuntu Were extremely difficult for me to figure out, but at one point I had to add a different header -- "generic" something or other. Plus, those instructions are now out of date for Breezy. Someone else posted the following instructions at ubuntu.org for fixing ndiswrapper when the Breezy upgrade breaks it: 1. Uninstall the current driver. Use ''ndiswrapper -l'' to get the name of the loaded driver, then ''ndiswrapper -e NAME'' to remove the currently installed driver. 2. Reinstall the driver with the comment ''ndiswrapper -i DRIVER.inf'' using your windows driver. 3. You should now be able to ''modprobe ndiswrapper'' successfully. I got through 1 and 2 above, but when I try modprobe ndiswrapper (as root) it gives me the error message "FATAL: Error inserting ndiswrapper ... [path to ndiswrapper.ko]. Operation not permitted." I repaired everything else that the upgrade broke, but I really, really need to get the wifi working again. If anyone can help me figure out and reinterpret the HowToUseNdiswrapper page I would really appreciate it. _______________________________________________ LinuxR3000 mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pcxperience.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/linuxr3000 Wiki at http://prinsig.se/weekee/
