I've been doing a little googling.  It looks like ATI support should be OK 
now?  I see ati's binary driver packages are available from livna, and I see 
ubuntu packages, both x86_64.  I see a message dated around Jan 2005 that ATI 
support under x86_64 should be working.

Does anyone have any 1st hand experience with recent ATI drivers?
