I have just updated the wiki page on the card reader (
http://prinsig.se/weekee/index.php/Media_reader_%28hw%29 ), and there
is some new information - at least to this list if I'm not mistaken -
available:

There is in fact a Texas Instruments Linux driver, most likely the
very same one that Everest Consultants wrote for TI. Some fellow
called Christopher Baker managed to get it from TI and lo and behold:
Despite being binary only, the module license is GPL! This must mean
that - since TI have distributed the binary - they must provide the
source.

The page describing it is here: http://www.webcon.ca/~imorgan/tifm21/
I have mirrored the binary driver at the wiki:
http://prinsig.se/weekee/files/utils/ti-binary-driver.tgz

It seems not all hope is lost. In fact, we should have a pretty good
chance to get the driver at last.
