I mentioned this issue a while back, but my motherboard has trouble
receiving power. Plugging in the AC will result in power flowing for
several seconds, then the power will stop. At first, this would only
happen occassionally, and I could simply reinsert the plug and it
would be ok. However, over time it's gotten gradually worse, to the
point where I'm reinserting dozens of times to try to get a consistent
connection.
At first I thought it must be the AC adapter, but switching to my
brother's provided no change.
The I talked to HP, and they suggested it was probably a loose power
jack. I can't solder for beans, but I opened it up and resoldered the
jack connections. Still no change.
At this point, I used a multimeter to confirm that the power is
flowing on the motherboard, but at some point the motherboard simply
stops accepting it.

On HPs recommendation, I took it into RadioShack/CircuitCity, and they
came to the same conclusion, except they want to charge me $400 for a
new motherboard. I'm not too keen on that idea, so I thought I would
start asking around to see if anyone had a spare. Perhaps your R3120CA
lost it's screen, or is in some non-motherboard-way defunt?

Anyway, if you have any ideas, please share them.

Thanks,

Alec
