There is a file (maybe a partition) named WindowsXP that has 616.4 megabites.
It is an executable file.
I'm thinking that that may be the partition.
What do you think. It seems likely to be the partition since it is 616.4
megabites,
and it is executable....(.exe)
As I said, I'm looking at it with knoppix 4.0

Yeah, I have his XP disk and drivers disk that came with the computer.(no trial
ware ect.)
That's exactly why I want to delete it because of all the stupid trial software
and ect.
But I want to save it to his external hard drive in case he doesn't understand.
Just a little CYA, or should I say CMA.

I already backed up the data and config files both through backing up everything
in mydocuments, and on the desktop, and I used the NTbackup.msi tool on the
windows xp
installation disk. (It gave me a backup file about 1.9 Gigs)

As I said, I am using knoppix 4.0 to look at it and save.

Yeah, I'm going to use the windows install disk that came with his box.
I know a little trick. You make three partitions. On is almost half the disk.
the second is almost half the disk. the third is twice the size of the ram (for
swap)
You format them all NTFS.
you install xp on the master boot(C:), then you install xp again on the second
partition (D:)
Then you go back and format the C: drive and the E: drive with ext3, and
install ubuntu on the master boot record.
It will recognize the windows partition and give it as an option when you boot
up.
This is of course LILO, I believe. Some time in the future I would like to
learn Grub.

Yeah, I have darrels boot and nuke. I'm going to erase the whole thing
