Because he killed his wife.  I've met both Hans and his wife, and I found them 
both very interesting people, but very much unalike.

Through the entire trial I believed him and even discussed with my own ex the 
issues involved in marriages between geeks and non-geeks, and how the 
appearance of their misunderstanding of each other could cause outsiders to 
think one would kill the other when in fact he/she did not.

But when he led police to her body (for the purpose of making sure he didn't 
get the death penalty), I lost all respect for him.

He's no Dexter (see sho.com); his reason for killing his wife that she (and 
her boyfriend) were in his way).  Since he appears to have no moral code it 
appears to me he could easily do it again.  He's where he belongs.

Because I don't want to risk him at some point thinking I'm in his way.  It 
doesn't need to be about lofty ideas and goals; it can simply be for self-
protection; a noble principle.
