There's nothing wrong with being idealistic, as a matter of fact
idealism is part of what drives future development for any OS. I just
wanted to clarify "MY" view of Linux' primary role, and point out the
difference between the footprint of Linux today, and what is
envisioned for the future.

And I agree with you that much of Jeff's problem with Linux is
probably really a problem of KDE. Not based on personal experience,
but just on what I've read about KDE. There are definitely apps that
can replace KAlarm. Nevertheless, although I think GNOME may be better
than KDE, it definitely leaves a bit (pun intended) to be desired.

All the same, I do everything I do in Gnome or IceWM. (I may try some
other WM before long) The only time I do anything in M$ is when
someone wants me to do something for them, and they need it in M$. The
only reason I don't use Apple, is cause I can't afford it right now.
If I could afford it, a Mac would probably be my choice. Not because
of the OS, but because of its hardware and its media prowess.

Paul
