It rewrites the mbr, in essence removing grub. You'll need a DOS bootdisk though with Fdisk on it.
If you dont have data on that hard drive yet, you can actually use the Ubuntu live cd, run gparted and delete and recreate the partition, or reformat the partition as fat32 or ntfs.
