Let me ask a few questions first: How many sound cards does your computer
have? If you have more than one, Amarok may be sending sound to the wrong
device. Is there any sound at all? Can you watch a youtube video - is
there sound with it? If yes, then there's something jacked in Amarok's
configuration. I haven't used Amarok for some time and don't remember how
to configure it.

If you've determined no answers to all the above questions and the computer
is entirely silent, the first thing I would suggest is to see if your sound
module loaded properly. From the root prompt, type 'lsmod | grep snd'
(without the quotes) and post the output. If that is determined to be
loading properly, the issue is with the configuration of ALSA. I use ubuntu
based Linux, and I know there's some differences in the area of ALSA
configuration between Fedora and Ubuntu. You'd want to search the repos and
install a program called something like alsaconfig or alsaconf - also
alsamixergui or alsamixer.

I wish I could do better than giving you the flow-chart for finding the
culprit, but that's the way to determine the issue. Once we have the output
of the command I referenced above, we'll have a better idea of what you're
up against.
