Sounds like a driver issue. Are you using the open source version or the proprietary version of the driver? Whichever one you are using try the other version and see what happens.

I can get compiz to work, but I like being able to have the Desktop Cube and Rotate Cube enabled.  The Desktop Cube requires OpenGL and Composite to be enabled.  When I go to enable Composite, my xfce window manager crashed to the point where I have no choice but to hard-reboot.  Anybody have similar issues to this that could help me get it figured out.  Until then, I need to use metacity.  Assistance is greatly appreciated.
