Did you want to run Linux in Windows or separately? If you're
interested in running Linux within Windows, there are several options
with varying benefits and drawbacks. There's Cygwin http://www.cygwin.com/
It basically lets you run Linux apps natively on Windows and provides
an emulation layer as dlls. There's Portable Ubuntu
http://sourceforge.net/projects/portableubuntu/ and Joli OS
http://www.jolicloud.com/download These types of solutions work using
techniques such as CoLinux http://www.colinux.org/ or Wubi
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wubi They basically use emulators
and/or virtual disks. If you want to run Windows and Linux
separately, you can dual boot as someone else suggested. When I build
my own PCs, I use removable drives in drive enclosures rather than
dual booting and then I just swap out my drives so that the operating
system I want to use is the one that boots. I've found it easier to
set up and maintain than a dual or multi boot system.
