Apologies if this posts twice -- My email's acting up a bit.
I've not seen that behavior from a 'zip' command -- I'd like to know some
details about what OS, where you're running this, etc -- then we can help
you do what you were trying to do in the first place.
To fix this, Assuming that you do NOT intend to have any files with a .gz
extension on the server, go to the web folder via command line again, and
run this command:
find . -type f -name '*.gz' -exec gunzip {} \+
That will decompress them and restore their original names.
