Having installed OpenLdap several times,  I must say that it is overly
complicated for the average SysAdmin.
Samba4 will accomplish the objective Philipp listed without the
complication of OpenLdap.  Linux and Mac clients can be easily configured
to authenticate against a Samba4 server.  Search for Centrify or PBIS.

Offerings from Zentyal and ClearOS  make samba deployment a breeze.
