The specs for the laptop show a quad-core 1GHz processor, but Ubuntu 18.04
requires a dual-core 2.0 GHz minimum (

you just don't have the processing power to run that version of Ubuntu. You
may want to look at light-weight versions of Linux that are better suited
for your hardware. Peppermint and Lubuntu are popular choices, but this
