I tend to agree with Jeremiah. In recent time, Ubuntu has become a ravenous resource hog. Any distro with a lighter weight window manager / desktop environment would better. Ubuntu Mate comes to mind and any of the ones in the link Jeremiah shared. Best of luck to you and let us know what you decided on and if you have any questions.
