I've never banned it, but I have always made it clear that any policy changes
are at the sole discretion of the list manager, me. Sometimes it helps
to discuss the rationale behind policies, some of which have stood me in
good stead for over 7 years. It seems that certain topics need to be
re-explained once or twice a year, copyright being one of them. My ban
(with automatic detection) on binary attachments kept my list from
propagating the Happy99 virus earlier this year. (I haven't seen any of
the nastier e-mail viruses.)

I've probably had a half dozen or so people leave because they didn't agree
with the List Nazi, and one because of a difference of opinion on how close
to copyright infringement is permissable. (He's a lawyer and surprisingly
enough was willing to go closer to the line than I felt comfortable with.
So, he mostly stopped posting.)
