I have long recommended unlinking subscribing from granting list posting privileges. In my case, some of my ezmlm-idx based lists use a four day waiting period, others (mostly small lists) only have posting privileges granted manually. While it is possible for a spammer to forge around subscriber address checks, I cannot recall a single instance of this happening on my lists in several years, and only one example of a spammer who hung around long enough to get around the waiting period. I have perl scripts which peruse the logs for new subscribers and activate posting privileges, and also perl scripts that I can 'bounce' e-mail to which activate or de-activate posting privileges for the poster. -- Mike Nolan
