An additional thought... what happens if the client computer isn't capable
of supporting the resolution you're wanting to change to, or worse yet
runing something other than Windows as an OS?

Don't bother looking at Javascript changing the resolution on clientside..
You won't find it. It's a security issue.
You can detect the resolution etc..

Only on the server machine with the help of some C++ code.
You'll want to look into Javascript for the client side. Even then, you
can't
change the resolution and you'll have to wait for a reply to be sent back to
the
server or a cookie to be set as Javascript (Client Side) runs after
ColdFusion(Server Side) has finished processing.
