According to everything I've read you don't need to unless you're going to be tying CF to your web server (e.g. IIS or Apache). They designed 7 so it can run along-side 6.1 so people can test out 7 easily. In our case we run 6.1 on JRun so we just created another server on JRun and can test that way.
